All eyes will be on Eduardo Berizzo here. Having guided Celta Vigo to the Europa League Semi-Finals last term, he swapped Galicia for Seville in the summer. Although the jury is still out on his new-look Sevilla side, they have at least found some home form now and they look the more likely winners here.
The Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán is one of, if not the most atmospheric stadiums in Spain and it really has been a fortress for Sevilla in recent years. Therefore it will come as a relief to Berizzo that his side have now won 6 straight home games in all competitions. If they avoid defeat here, which they certainly should, it will be 25 home matches without defeat since a Champions League loss to Juventus last November.
They haven’t quite settled on their best starting eleven, particularly in the final third, so they’ve been a bit disjointed at times but they have still tended to find a way to win. Nolito is another man who could face his former club here but he’s one of a number of summer signings who’ve yet to hit the ground running.
Sevilla do though have an 80% home win ratio in La Liga this term though and Celta may struggle to dent that. The Galicians have been very inconsistent and they haven’t recorded back-to-back wins since way back in April. They were conceding far too many goals and have changed from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 to try and counter that but it’s still 1.55 goals per game conceded and 1.6 away in La Liga this season.
They’ve lost 60% of their away league games, including a defeat to bottom club Malaga in their last away fixture and with Sevilla so strong at home, going for Sevilla to Win looks like the smart bet.
Backing Sevilla & Over 2.5 Goals could also be worth a flutter. All of Sevilla’s last 6 competitive games have seen over 2.5 goals and so have all of Celta Vigo’s away league games this term.
