The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, has ordered the dismissal of the officer that attacked Tinsel actress April Jojo Muse, yesterday. Recall that earlier DAILY POST had published a video online showing a police officer attacking Ms. Muse, breaking her vehicles windscreen and using tear gas on her. The officer was subsequently arrested by the command for violation of human rights. In a new twist, the Lagos state police spokesperson, Sp. Chike Oti, told journalists that, “the state police commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, after seeing the disturbing video, ordered the arrest of the erring officer.” After investigation, the officer was found guilty and has been dismissed from the force. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said that he would review the Appeal Court judgement concerning his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), and take “appropriate action”. The Appeal Court had on Tuesday ordered that Saraki return to face trial on three of the 18 count charges preferred against him at the CCT. In his reaction to the ruling, the Senate President said the “Appellate Court only gave a summary of its decision today promising to provide the parties with Certified True Copies of the Judgment soon. “As soon as it makes the details of the judgement available, our lawyers will review the grounds of the decision and take appropriate action”. Human right lawyer, Femi Falana, has made good his threat to file a lawsuit against the Federal government after he broke his leg in a manhole he fell into while on his way to work in Abuja a few weeks ago. On November 14th, Falana disclosed that he will be taking the Federal government to court after he fell into a manhole along the Shehu Shagari way in Abuja while heading to his office “I am sure you saw me limping and using a walking stick when I was coming in. A court in Oyo state has sentenced Yewande Oyediran to seven years imprisonment for stabbing her husband, Lowo Adelowo continuously to death in February 2016. Yewande who is a lawyer and a Staff of Directorate of public prosecution at the Ministry of Justice, Ibadan, Oyo state, stabbed her 38 year old husband to death after a domestic dispute at their Akobo estate home in Ibadan on February 2nd 2016. After several months of trial, Yewande was this morning found guilty and sentenced to 7-years imprisonment for manslaughter. The term is to run from the day of her arrest.

MARYAM Sanda was yesterday arraigned by the Police before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja on charges of culpable homicide for allegedly stabbing her husband, Bilyamin Bello, to death on November 19. Bilyamin Bello is the son of the former acting Chairman of PDP, an ex-minister of Defense, Haliru Bello. She was accused of culpable homicide punishable by death under section 221 of the Penal Code Law. Sanda was alleged to have stabbed the deceased in the chest with a broken bottle. She was also accused of causing Bello “grievous hurt ” by stabbing him on the neck, an act said to be contrary to section 240 (g) and punishable under section 247 of the Penal Code Law. The incident was said to have taken place at about 3.50am on November 19, 2017 at their residence at 4, Pakali Close, Wuse Zone II, Abuja. A confessional statement tendered before an Ikeja High Court on Tuesday revealed how Pastor Nsikakabasi Akpan-Jacobs voluntarily confessed defrauding Mrs Titi Atiku, the wife of former Vice-President Abubakar Atiku of N918 million. Mr Dickson Graymond, a retired detective with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) insisted on the voluntariness of Akpan-Jacob’s alleged confessional statement while giving evidence during a trial. A 22-year-old housewife, Rashidat Adewuyi, told an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court in Ibadan on Friday that her father-in-law slept on the same bed with her and her husband whenever he visited them. Rashidat made the statement on Friday when she testified in a divorce petition filed by her husband, Lukman Adewuyi. She said her marriage of two years with Lukman had been characterised by agony and regrets due to interference by her father-in-law, who never allowed her to have free access to her husband. Report reaching us says the Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested the Administrative Head of Royal Clinic, Dr. Walter and another person over the alleged seven months detention of two minors, Kareen Ehikioya and Great favour Ehikioya against their wish by the hospital over four hundred thousand naira unpaid medical bills. At the time of filing this report, the medical director and the other person were making formal statements before the police in Warri. The arrests of the suspects was based on a petition instituted by the Nigerian Child Welfare Fund led by Mr. Joshua Omorere. Mr Omorere who confirmed the arrest had asked the Police to “verify” if Dr. Walter is truly a medical doctor, stressing that his conduct was against the ethics of the medical profession.
