Wike, Amaechi’s convoys clash in Port Harcourt

Mr. Wike said he was attacked by officers of the police special anti robbery squad attached to Mr. Amaechi’s convoy. In a statement by his spokesperson, Simeon Nwakaudu, the governor said he was on project inspection when he was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road, Port Harcourt. “The SARs Personnel and Soldiers in the Minister’s convoy hit down the Governor’s Escort Rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car,” the statement said. “Also part of the attack, was the Commander of Rivers SARS, Mr Akin Fakorede who received the Minister of Transportation at the Port Harco

President Buhari Approves N5bn Take-off Grant For Maritime University

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a significant increase of the take-off grant for the commence of operations at the Maritime University in Delta State from N2bn earlier announced to N5bn. The President also okay an immediate release of N1bn to the university to support essential infrastructure works and staff recruitment. In a press statement signed by the Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Usani, he revealed that the presidential approval for the N5B budget allocation was based on the recommendation of a committee in the Ministry of Education tasked with the activation of the university. UNILAG Becomes The First Nigerian University To Get TV License

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has become the first university in Nigeria to be granted a licence to operate a television station. This was disclosed by Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye, Chairman of UNILAG Radio and TV, through a statement issued yesterday. According to him, “the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) granted the TV licence to the institution on Thursday, November 9.” He therefore invited members of the university community to the commissioning of the TV scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 11 at the Department of Mass Communication of the university. Also in the press statement, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Rahman Bello, on behalf of the university management, congratulated members of staff, students and the entire university community on the milestone. The Mass Communication department of UNILAG also pioneered the first campus radio station in Nigeria.

Infinix to launch Zero 5 smartphone on November 14

Infinix will be launching a new smartphone on November 14. The company has sent out invites for an event that will take place in Dubai. We don't have all the details yet but the smartphone will be called Zero 5, and the Indian pricing is under INR 20,000 ($308), although the phone will also go on sale in other countries simultaneously. It is said to have a bezel-less display, probably with the popular 18:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass, dual rear camera system with 2x optical zoom, 6GB of RAM, 128GB expandable storage and will be available in multiple colors, including the red featured above. The phone is expected to go on sale through two of the major online retailers.
