…Receives Eight Returnees From Libya

Uyo – The Akwa Ibom State Government has taken delivery of eight of her indigenes among the several Nigerian returnees from Libya. The returnees, who were brought back to the state through Port Harcourt airport, returned after spending a nine-month jail term each as illegal migrant. Monday Uko, the state commissioner for youth and sports, who was represented by Aniedi Dickson, the permanent secretary in the ministry, handed over the five males and three females to the deputy governor. He said that the ministry received a call to pick up its indigenes from the airport amidst other returnees from states across the country. Taking delivery of the returnees namely Isonguyo Patrick- Obot Akara, Udo Akwa- Essien Udim, Otobong Edet- Abak, Idem Monday- Ikot Ekpene, Victoria Sampson- Ikot Ekpene, Okon Mercy- Abak, Rose John- Mkpat Enin and Attah Hanson- Uyo, Moses Ekpo, the deputy governor, welcomed them and thanked God for their returning alive. In Kaduna Kidnappers release Bishop Kukah's brother

The Chief of Ikulu, Mr Yohanna Kukah, has been released by his abductors, the police confirmed on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Kukah was reportedly freed around 3p.m. on Thursday. The spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Kaduna State, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu said traditional ruler was unhurt and had re-united with his family. He said, "On the issue of ransom paid before his release I cannot confirm that. "We are doing everything humanly possible to arrest the suspect." Kukah, who is the Chief Ikulu in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was abducted in the evening of January 2 at his residence. He is a brother of the Rt. Rev. Mathew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

Tears as Former Nigeria Goalkeeper Passes Away

Former Nigeria goalkeeper  Raymond King has died on Monday at the age of 52. According to King’s former teammate, Taju Disu, the former Abiola Babes keeper died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, after he was transferred from the Ikorodu General Hospital. King was last week reported to be down with partial stroke and memory loss, and was initially admitted at the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Disu said King was taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital after his health was not improving. He was later referred from there to LASUTH, Ikeja, where he gave up the ghost. “He was transferred from the State Hospital, Abeokuta to Ikorodu General Hospital yesterday (Sunday) when his condition was not improving. The news got to the Lagos State Commissioner for Health; he directed that King should be taken to LASUTH for better treatment,” Disu told our correspondent on the telephone. “On Monday evening, he got to LASUTH but we were initially told that th
