Cristiano Ronaldo has advised the leadership of the Spanish football club, Real Madrid to strengthen the squad to boost its chances of success. Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has reportedly given the club a shortlist of three players they must bring in next year. Madrid are eight points off Barcelona, who currently occupy top spot in La Liga. Ronaldo has eight goals in five games in Europe, but has managed to net only twice in nine league matches, as the champions struggle to impress on the domestic front. The Portugal captain has also been outspoken on the club’s decision to allow experienced backup players like Pepe, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez to depart in the summer. Diario Gol reports that Ronaldo has appealed to president Florentino Perez to strengthen the squad. The 32-year-old would like to see Portuguese youngster Goncalo Guedes, PSG defender Marquinhos and a new goalkeeper arrive – with Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa the No.1 target.

Juventus goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon has explained why he shocked one supporter by giving him his shorts after Wednesday’s Champions League draw against Barcelona. Buffon returned to Juve squad for the first time since his emotional retirement from international football after Italy’s failure to qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup. The 39-year-old, who was excited after the match, ran to hug Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic following a social media exchange on the eve of the game when the Croatian had said he would love to tell Buffon to take his place in the 2018 World Cup. After embracing Rakitic, the Italian keeper then pulled off his orange shorts and ran towards the tunnel to salute the delighted fans. Buffon, who earned a record 175 caps for Italy over 20 years, had been targeting a record sixth World Cup appearance in Russia. Neymar Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar could join Real Madrid but it will be difficult, according to Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata. The Brazil international has again been linked to the La Liga champions, with Madrid captain Sergio Ramos saying the door was open for the 25-year-old. Neymar made a world-record move from Madrid’s fierce rivals Barcelona to PSG in August and has scored 11 goals in 12 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants. Morata, who left Madrid for Chelsea in July, said Neymar joining his former club would be hard – but not impossible. “I think it is difficult because of his past,” the Spain international told El Larguero. “But we have already seen that in Madrid there is no impossible.” Zinedine Zidane’s men are eight points behind rivals and La Liga leaders Barcelona through 11 matches this season.
