Paul pogba unlikely to return soon

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said he has “no idea” when record signing Paul Pogba will be fit again after the French midfielder suffered a hamstring injury. The France player had sustained the injury in a UEFA Champions League tie against Basel early in September. The 24-year-old, who cost 89 million pounds last year —- a world record at the time —- played only a handful of games this season before being sidelined. “Paul is not here, I don’t know when he comes back, when he’s available, I’ve no idea,” Mourinho told a news conference ahead of his team’s Saturday’s visit to Huddersfield Town. He hopes Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return by the end of the year, however. The Portuguese also has better news of Marcus Rashford, who is fit in spite of coming off during the midweek Champions League win over Benfica with a knee injury. United will be looking to make history by keeping an eighth clean sheet in the opening nine league games of the season. No other team has a

Recognition a Key Issue in Somaliland's Presidential Election

Somaliland's three presidential candidates have concluded their campaigns ahead of Monday's poll to elect the next leader of the breakaway region. Muse Bihi of the ruling Kulmiye party, Faisal Ali Waraabe of the For Justice and Development party (UCID) and Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi of the Wadani party held their final rallies this week in the capital, Hargeisa. A central issue, as always, is how to win international recognition for Somaliland. Somalia, which was once governed by Italy, wants Somaliland to be part of a single Somali state. But Somaliland, which used to be a British colony and broke away from the rest of Somalia in 1991, wants to be a separate country. All three candidates favor a fully independent Somaliland but have different visions of how to achieve it. "Previous talks were not fruitful and they were heading to the wrong direction," Bihi told VOA. He proposes bringing in "proper and genuine mediators" to replace officials fr

Tinubu, Atiku have dumped ‘fatigued’ Buhari – Sule Lamido

Former Governor of Jigawa State and contender for the Peoples Democratic Party’s sole ticket for the 2019 Presidential election, Sule Lamido has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari has been dumped by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Lagos State Governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu. According to him, PDP was not afraid of Buhari, who is now left with his ‘tiny CPC members, having lost support of members of the other parties that merged to form APC in 2015. He noted that Buhari of today is no longer that of 2015 and can now be easily displaced from office. He told Sun, “That is my business if they endorse him or if he runs? Buhari came from a very small party called the CPC. Without the influence of the ACN and the governors who left the PDP, there was no way he would have won because he came from a very tiny party. If those who came together to make him what he is, are no longer in the party, then he has my sympathy for failing to understand this. Look here, Buhari is no

‘Trump’ in Ekiti eats boli with people, stealing all the money – Falana carpets Fayose

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has accused Ekiti governor, Ayo Fayose, of corruptly enriching himself. The legal luminary also described Fayose as a ‘Trump’. Falana spoke at the ongoing Lagos Book and Arts Festival (LABAF) holding in Freedom Park, Lagos. “We have a Trump in Ekiti. Somebody is going out there to eat boli with the people. Somebody who says [he believes] in stomach infrastructure, stealing all the money but giving people just some tokenism and he is being celebrated.” He further lamented the rot in the Nigerian university system. “Where are the intellectuals in our universities?” Falana quipped. “We now have ‘yahoo-yahoo’ professors. People are made professors now because of where the came from. It is not about your contribution to the intellectual enterprise. Now Vice-Chancellor is elected on the basis of ethnicity,” he added.

IPOB shuts down Onitsha over Anambra poll protest

The group marched along major roads including Awka road, Old Market road, New Market road to Main Market, Oguta road and Upper Iweka to Owerri road vowing that there would be no election in the state or ‘Biafra land’ unless a referendum was held for the exit of Igbo people from Nigeria. They waved Biafra flags and distributed handbills with inscriptions such as, “IPOB’s calls for referendum is not call for war”, “Biafra Exit”; “Our Mumu Don Do”; “No election in Anambra, no election in Biafra land, sit-at-home”, etc. A member of the group, who gave his name as Ogbonnaya, said the people of Biafra should not vote, because the Nigerian system was skewed in favour of the North, stressing that voting would not change anything. His words: “whether you vote or not, it does not change anything, whoever ge

Restaurant in Toronto where everyone has HIV and they only employ...

Restaurant in Toronto where everyone has HIV and they only employ... Organizers say the impetus was a recent poll that found that the thought of dining with somebody who’s HIV-positive still paralyzes them with fear. The survey by Casey House, Canada’s only hospital dedicated to people living with HIV/AIDS, found that nearly half of Canadians wouldn’t eat a meal prepared by someone with the disease, even though health experts say the infection can’t be transmitted that way. To combat the stigma around food prep, Casey House decided it was time to pull a bold stunt. The pop-up, called June’s Eatery after Casey House’s co-founder June Callwood, launched this week. It advertised two four-course dinners made by 14 HIV-positive chefs for $125 — one yesterday, the other today. Both of them sold out. Organizers told The Guardian that they even welcome “negative coverage,” though, as the “entire point of the pop-up” is “exposing the ignorance and blame around HIV and AIDS.” The

Tech How Alibaba turned an obscure, made-up Chinese holiday into a $17.8 billion shopping extravaganza that's bigger than Black Friday

Alibaba raked in over $8 billion in sales in the first hour of its made-up marketing holiday, "Singles Day." Singles Day has its roots in an obscure Chinese holiday for students who had not married yet. Alibaba CEO Jack Ma capitalized expertly on the holiday, and now, Singles Day dwarfs traditional American shopping holidays like Black Friday, and is much larger than Amazon's "Prime Day." Alibaba turned Singles Day, the Chinese holiday for the single-set, into a huge economic opportunity through a savvy marketing blitz. The company raked in well over $8 billion during the first hour of this year's sale, largely through its online shopping platforms, Taobao.com and Tmall.com as well as a glitzy gala. Students at Nanjing University first celebrated Singles Day in 1993 as an appreciation of, you guessed it — being single. They picked November 11 (11/11) as an ode to the loneliness of the number one. But Single’s Day was never meant to be a somber aff

Italy likely not to qualify for WC18

Jan Andersson's charges started firing on all cylinders in the opening 10 minutes as they pressurised the Azzurri. However, Daniele De Rossi had the first big chance of the match after going through in the 21st minute but his strike from the edge of the box sailed over the crossbar. There was a lot of intensity after half-an-hour but both sides were guilty of wasting chances in the final third. The Blue and Yellows were raiding the Azzurri on the wings but lacked the killer instinct to get on the score-sheet after 40 minutes. The last five minutes of action saw Andersson's troops still probing but the visitors kept it tight and the first stanza ended goalless. Jakob Johansson broke the deadlock for the hosts on the hour following a throw in into the box. The midfielder had space to angle a shot that took a massive deflection and wrong footed goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and into the back of the net, 1-0. Matteo Darmian hit the post in the 70th minute but Gian V

😂Nigeria police rated worst in the world in ranking of 127 countries

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has been ranked worst in the world according to the 2016 World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI). The WISPI was released by two bodies – the International Police Science Association and the Institute for Economics and Peace. The report which measured the police’ ability to address internal security issues, assessed police in 127 countries based on four metrics—capacity, process, legitimacy and outcomes. The report showed that Nigeria performed poorly in all four categories, with a score of 0.255. “There are 219 police officers for every 100,000 Nigerians, well below both the Index median of 300, and the sub-Saharan Africa region average of 268. “This limits the capacity of the force to measure up to its law and order mandate. “In terms of process, legitimacy and outcomes, the story is not different which makes the force fall short of the required standard. “High levels of political terror have been an issue for Nigeria since 1993

Mayweather poses with three scantily clad women

Floyd Mayweather was pictured posing with three women dressed in leather masks on Thursday as declared via Instagram: ‘Having one is too close to having none’. The boxing icon – who has four children but has never been married – shared four images on the social media site of himself surrounded by the ladies, two of whom were armed with whips. Although the women covered their faces with masks, their outfits hid little else, while Mayweather wore sunglasses and a white blazer. The 40-year-old appears to be enjoying his retirement. He ended his ring career in August when he beat Conor McGregor to extend his unbeaten record to 50-0, although he remains involved in the sport as a promoter. McGregor recently claimed that he would beat Mayweather were the two men to contest a rematch but the prospect of such an event seems unlikely. ‘If I had a rematch I would correct it and I would beat him,’ McGregor said. ‘He’s retired. I’m not going to start calling him out of retirement. I
