Doctor arrested for detaining two minors over N400,000 medical bills

Report reaching us says the Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested the Administrative Head of Royal Clinic, Dr. Walter and another person over the alleged seven months detention of two minors, Kareen Ehikioya and Great favour Ehikioya against their wish by the hospital over four hundred thousand naira unpaid medical bills.

At the time of filing this report, the medical director and the other person were making formal statements before the police in Warri.

The arrests of the suspects was based on a petition instituted by the Nigerian Child Welfare Fund led by Mr. Joshua Omorere.

Mr Omorere who confirmed the arrest had asked the Police to “verify” if Dr. Walter is truly a medical doctor, stressing that his conduct was against the ethics of the medical profession.

Omorere also requested the Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter as well as ensure that the two minors are released from “bondage.”

Omorere claimed that Dr. Walter almost beat up the Chairperson of the Delta State branch of the International Federation of Female Lawyers,IFFL (Litigation Committee) Mrs. Mary Akujobi and other female lawyers for arguing that the girls were held against their wish during their visit to the hospital’s management to find a way out of the matter on 4th of October.

Omorere said, “It took the intervention of some people before we could leave the hospital premises unharmed.”

“The behavior of Dr. Walter is suspicious to ask if he is truly a qualified Medical Doctor because his behavior is completely against the ethics of the medical profession.”

It would be recalled that the two minors, Kareen Ehikioya (16yrs) and Great Favour Ehikioya(14yrs) were hit by a vehicle when they were on top of a motorcycle along Udu express road seven months ago.

The vehicle owner, Alfred Ogboru rushed them to Royal Hospital and deposited some money for their treatment.

After a while, the man who took them to the hospital refused to continue with the payment of medical bills, claiming the accident was caused by the Okada man who was conveying the young girls.

The hospital, however, failed to hold the man who DAILY POST gathered is a popular customer. They also did not report the matter to the police. They consequently held the girls back in the hospital for seven months, threatening they won’t be released until the bills are settled.

Guardiola vows to ”kill” Man City team if they fail to win EPL

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has vowed to kill his players if they fail to finish the English Premier League (EPL) season without the title. Guardiola said there was no chance of his team becoming complacent despite their superb form to the start of the season. Manchester City continued their EPL dominance with a 2-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday. City have made a flying start to the season, dropping just two points from the first 12 games and are 8-point lead at the top of the table, scoring 40 goals and conceding just seven. “That is not going to happen because I am their manager,” Guardiola said. “The team, that is not going to happen. I’ll kill them. Complacency doesn’t happen in my teams. “They can play bad, teams are going to beat us, that happens. “But if you see the team, they have the desire to have the ball and play. We are not a team that speculates about absolutely anything. That’s not going to happen.”

Following the crew fight in Dubai last night, Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law has called on Wizkid and Davido to sheathe their swords and embrace peace. Seyi Law shared a picture of the duo and wrote; “To @wizkidayo and @davidoofficial Our lives are nothing, but the memories we create. Your celebrity status or starboyism is only a perception. Whether you’re the best or the worst, not everyone will agree. Don’t start hatred neither should you fan the fire of hate. Someday, our bodies will end up six feet below. Just above it, our memories will live fading with time. Sheathe your swords and embrace PEACE. Build legacies and write your names as legends. Don’t die prematurely for people’s obsessions. Both of you are doing awesomely well, don’t stop. Bless You. SEYILAW.”
