A 20-year-old man, identified as Kabir Labaran, has been remanded in prison by a Katsina a State Senior Magistrates’ Court in the prison custody for allegedly attempting to r*pe a five-year-old girl.
The prosecution told the presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadila Dikko, that it was only providence that saved the minor from being violated by Labaran.
The police told the court that Labaran had already forcefully removed the girl’s underwear and was attempting to r*pe her when the minor’s uncle stepped into the room.
The incident was said to have happened at Tsagero Village in the Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State on November 24, 2017.
The uncle, whose name was not given, reportedly rescued the girl while the incident was reported at the Rimi Divisional Police Headquarters by the girl’s father, Ali Ibrahim, leading to Labaran’s arrest and subsequent arraignment before the court.
Labaran is currently facing a charge bordering on attempt to commit an offence to wit: r*pe, which the police said was contrary to Section 95 of the Penal Code.
The magistrate, Dikko, noted that Labaran was brought before her for cognizance purpose, pointing out that the offence of attempted r*pe is triable only by the high court.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, however, told the court that investigation was still in progress and requested for an adjournment of the case.
Dikko adjourned the case till February 12, 2018 for mention, and directed that Labaran be remanded in the prison custody.

He saw what happened during military raid.” “Such resistance should have told them that Biafrans, if armed, would really consume Nigeria like Kanu was saying. “He should respect his old age and turn attention to Boko Haram and Shiites”. However, the group added that its ongoing ...
