Political Parties Accuse Fayose Of Diverting Pensioners’ Funds, Salaries

Ekiti State Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), has slammed Governor Ayo Fayose of the state for allegedly diverting funds meant to pay pensioners and workers in the state.

CNPP, while reacting to a report by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which indicted the Fayose administration for allegedly diverting N680 million bailout fund, yesterday described the alleged diversion as “callous and greedy.”

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, by CNPP’s Director of Publicity, Kunle Omotayo, said 16 political parties in the state met and regretted that pensioners and workers were owed several arrears after the state had received intervention funds from the Federal Government.

He said, “For the first time in the history of Ekiti State, workers have turned petty thieves, stealing pots of soup and some stealing farm produce to stay alive, while several others have become beggars before they can make ends meet.”

Responding, the Commissioner for Information, Lanre Ogunsuyi dismissed the allegation, saying it was a “figment of imagination of those peddling it.” Ogunsuyi said Fayose’s administration is “the most transparent in the history of Ekiti.”

Ogunsuyi said, “I sympathize with those celebrating what the EFCC has done; it is quite unfortunate. Ekiti is in a difficult financial situation because of the repayment of loans obtained by Fayemi administration. We have repaid N40 billion in the last 36 months, deducted at N1.2 billion per month.”

“The allegations of treasury looting and financial mismanagement being peddled by some mischievous individuals and groups only exist in their imagination. Let them bring concrete evidence or keep silent forever.”

Biafra: Respect your old age – BNYL warns Lai Mohammed over comments on IPOB

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has cautioned Minister of information, Lai Mohammed, over his comments that IPOB is dead. The group warned that such declaration could lead to provocation in the South East and South South regions. Mohammed had told newsmen that “the large turnout witnessed during the election has sounded the death knell on IPOB. “I think what that proved really is that IPOB does not represent the good people of Anambra or any state in the South East. “If truly they represented the people, the IPOB propaganda about the election really showed that they are not on ground.” Reacting, BNYL Leader, Princewill Obuka, said “That old man does not know how determined the Biafrans are. He saw what happened during military raid.” “Such resistance should have told them that Biafrans, if armed, would really consume Nigeria like Kanu was saying. “He should respect his old age and turn attention to Boko Haram and Shiites”. However, the group added that its ongoing ...
