CCT TRIAL: Saraki to take ‘appropriate action’ on Appeal Court ruling

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said that he would review the Appeal Court judgement concerning his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), and take “appropriate action”. The Appeal Court had on Tuesday ordered that Saraki return to face trial on three of the 18 count charges preferred against him at the CCT. In his reaction to the ruling, the Senate President said the “Appellate Court only gave a summary of its decision today promising to provide the parties with Certified True Copies of the Judgment soon. “As soon as it makes the details of the judgement available, our lawyers will review the grounds of the decision and take appropriate action”. Buhari is Nigeria’s father of corruption – Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose on Wednesday described President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘father of corruption’ over his refusal to petition Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi and other corrupt officials in his camp. In a statement issued by by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor accused Buhari of leading a government of corrupt people and shielding his cohorts from prosecution. ‘I was born blind’ – Chidinma Ekile

NIGERIAN Singer, and MTN Project Fame winner, Chidinma Ekile, AKA Ms Kedike, has revealed she was born blind. The star singer in an Interview with Guardian said according to her parents, she just could not see for some months. Chidinma said she would love to be seen more as someone who does a lot for visually-impaired kids and young people as she can relate with their situation. She said, “I was born blind. I just couldn’t see for some months. Since I sang about it, I felt the need to help kids that find themselves in such situations or even worse. So every time I travel to these places, I try to extend a hand of love to these children. “For some years now, I think like two years or thereabout. I’ve been using my foundation to do quite a lot of things. I’ve been able to take it to some places in Africa. The last time, I think I was in Togo and I was able to do a few things with the SOS village, I hope to do more of that.”

Ambode presents N1.046 trillion budget, targets N60b monthly IGR

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode presenting the 2018 budget to the state House of Assembly at Alausa, Ikeja… yesterday Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday presented N1.046 trillion 2018 budget estimates to the House of Assembly, saying the state hopes to generate on the average N60 billion monthly to finance it. The proposed budget, the governor said, represents an increase of 28.67 per cent over 2017 budget with recurrent expenditure of N347.039 billion and capital expenditure of N699 billion. Ambode, who stated that the estimate of total revenue for year 2018 is N897.423 billion of which N720.123 billion will be generated internally, said the state intends to improve on its Internally-Generated Revenue (IGR) in the face of the dwindling accruable revenue allocation from the Federal Government, as well as sustain its vision on wealth creation and poverty alleviation.
