Photos: AIT staff fighting for her life in Bayelsa after being robbed and shot at close range on her way home from Shiloh

A producer/reporter with Daar Communications in Bayelsa, Patience Owe is in critical condition after being attacked by suspected armed robber.

According to Julius Bokoru, editor-in-chief at Izom Writers Review, he was called to the scene of the violent robbery by one James Baridi around 10 pm on Saturday night,  where they found the victim llying in pool of her blood.

It was learnt that the lone gunman trailed her from a Winners church where she had gone to watch the livestream of Shiloh 2017. He showed the gun, took her phone, jewelry and cash and then shot her at close range.

They rushed her to Tobis Hospital but doctors demanded for police report and large sum of money. Read the rest below:

“Last night at about 10:40 I had an urgent    call from James Baridi in an area few   metres from my house. When I went it was   the fresh scene of a rather violent robbery. A girl I would later identity as an AIT staff was lying half-conscious in a pool of her blood. Witnesses said it was a lone gunman who had trailed her from Shiloh. Just in front of her house he showed the gun, took her phone, jewelry and cash. But the animal didn’t end there. He took steps backwards and shot her at close range even as she gave him no problems.

Her landlady, James and I rushed her to Tobis Hospital at Akenfa. To our surprise Animals were the ones administering that place. They would not save her life except we provide a police report and a wholesome amount.

We took her to another hospital at Igbogene, Himmei or thereabouts, the people here were humans and they commenced treatment instantly including  fresh pounds of blood.

By morning we realized we needed to contact her family, but how? She lives alone and her phones were gone. In the area no one knows much about her except that she’s a journalist for AIT. We also reported the matter to the Akenfa police division

For a start, I called NUJ Bayelsa scribe Ebiowei Lawal who called her office.

Its been a very long day. Patience Owe will make it and we have God to thank. Our prayers will remain with her”

Biafra: Respect your old age – BNYL warns Lai Mohammed over comments on IPOB

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has cautioned Minister of information, Lai Mohammed, over his comments that IPOB is dead. The group warned that such declaration could lead to provocation in the South East and South South regions. Mohammed had told newsmen that “the large turnout witnessed during the election has sounded the death knell on IPOB. “I think what that proved really is that IPOB does not represent the good people of Anambra or any state in the South East. “If truly they represented the people, the IPOB propaganda about the election really showed that they are not on ground.” Reacting, BNYL Leader, Princewill Obuka, said “That old man does not know how determined the Biafrans are. He saw what happened during military raid.” “Such resistance should have told them that Biafrans, if armed, would really consume Nigeria like Kanu was saying. “He should respect his old age and turn attention to Boko Haram and Shiites”. However, the group added that its ongoing ...
