MAINA: If I talk, EFCC will run

Former Chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Team (PPRT) Abdurasheed Maina has challenges the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to an open debate on the issue of pension funds in the country.

Maina who spoke through his lawyer, Sani Katu, in Kadun, said, “Let’s meet at an open panel of investigation if the EFCC is truly straightforward. We urge the government to appoint an independent panel of investigation and see who will run out of Nigeria.”

The fugitive Maina who still insists that he is innocent of the allegations against him, said instead, it is the federal government that owes him money based on its whistle blower policy, since he helped recover stolen public funds.

He said, “In 2011, we stopped the stealing of N300 million daily from police pension. Also, in 2011, we stopped the stealing of N1.04 billion monthly from police pension allocations.

“Same 2011, we were able to stop the yearly stealing of N52.5 billion, which has been an annual ritual at the head of service pension

“It will interest you to know that between 2011 and 2012, the PRTT recovered cash and asset worth N1.63 trillion, which has been with the EFCC.

“Recalled that some pensioners petitioned the National Assembly to ensure that EFCC produced these recoveries so that Nigerians will know.

“The pensioners urged EFCC in their petition to stop diverting the attention of Nigerians from the N1.63 trillion towards an imaginary and concocted N2.1 billion fraud that EFCC Pension Fraud unit created, using coercion to hide the monies, some of them had stolen. The result is that conviction of the 43 alleged notorious pension cartel, which may never be possible.

“Similarly, between 2016 and June 2017, Maina, released the intelligence and tip-offs that stopped the annual stealing of N1.3 trillion. “

“Also between February and October, he also recovered N152 billion, N60 billion, and other sensitive materials. These achievements go to further the importance of Maina to this country.

“It means the government acted in public interest by obeying court order which brought Maina to office.

“It could be recalled that Maina was shot at and dismissed by the pension cabal. The 7th Senate asked for his head, he approached the high court and got judgment and is now being accused of N2.1 billion which is not even a .000001 percent of what Maina is supposed to be paid by government.

“Now let’s total what Maina recovered, then apply the five percent whistleblower policy and get the total to be paid to Maina; then subtract N2.1 billion, which, even though it is a complete fabrication by the EFCC, then pay him the balance”, his lawyer argued.
Recall that the EFCC said it has sealed a building under-construction linked to fleeing Maina.

Since the dismissal of Maina after his return to Nigeria and controversial reinstatement into the Federal Civil Service was uncovered, the EFCC has sealed seven of his property in Kaduna State alone.

As the controversy surrounding Maina continues, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, reportedly claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan benefited illicitly from the pension fund under Maina’s supervision.

But the former president described the claim as “a blatant lie”, and that there was no truth to the reports that he was paid N5 billion monthly from the pension fund.

Guardiola vows to ”kill” Man City team if they fail to win EPL

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has vowed to kill his players if they fail to finish the English Premier League (EPL) season without the title. Guardiola said there was no chance of his team becoming complacent despite their superb form to the start of the season. Manchester City continued their EPL dominance with a 2-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday. City have made a flying start to the season, dropping just two points from the first 12 games and are 8-point lead at the top of the table, scoring 40 goals and conceding just seven. “That is not going to happen because I am their manager,” Guardiola said. “The team, that is not going to happen. I’ll kill them. Complacency doesn’t happen in my teams. “They can play bad, teams are going to beat us, that happens. “But if you see the team, they have the desire to have the ball and play. We are not a team that speculates about absolutely anything. That’s not going to happen.”

Whether you’re the best or the worst, not everyone will agree. Don’t start hatred neither should you fan the fire of hate. Someday, our bodies will end up six feet below.
