Why I left Aquila records - Tillaman reveals

When Tillaman, the son of the Alaafin of Oyo, exited Aquila Records last year, it was rumoured that he left because he was not getting good treatment at the record company.

Born Adeyemi Adetona, Tillaman has decided to clear the air. He told Sunday Scoop that he left Aquila Records because he wanted to do things in his own way.

He explained, “My contract with Aquila Records expired and I felt the need to start my own record label. There are a lot of things I cannot do as an artiste under a record label, but I can do more if I own my company. My music journey has grown to a level that I want to have control over the materials I put out at all times.”

While admitting that working with Shina Peller was a wonderful experience, he stated that nothing lasts forever.

He insisted, “Change is something we cannot stop; we have to learn to grow. I didn’t have any problem with Aquila Records. I am even closer to Shina Peller now than when I was with the label. He is a wonderful individual and I still seek his advice anytime I need to do things in music or in my personal life. When his father, Professor Peller, was alive, he used to come to the palace to mesmerise us with magic. So, Shina Peller is like a big brother to me.”

Also, the prince of Oyo said he is set to unveil a record label before the year runs out. According to him, having worked with great minds over the years, he now knows more about the music industry.

He stated, “I have been fortunate to work with great minds over the years. I want to impact the music industry, not just as an artiste, but to also empower youths and create infrastructure. I desire to be more than a recording artiste and it takes experience and some groundwork to achieve that. We are still working on a few names for my record company, but it will be unveiled very soon.”

Biafra: Respect your old age – BNYL warns Lai Mohammed over comments on IPOB

Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has cautioned Minister of information, Lai Mohammed, over his comments that IPOB is dead. The group warned that such declaration could lead to provocation in the South East and South South regions. Mohammed had told newsmen that “the large turnout witnessed during the election has sounded the death knell on IPOB. “I think what that proved really is that IPOB does not represent the good people of Anambra or any state in the South East. “If truly they represented the people, the IPOB propaganda about the election really showed that they are not on ground.” Reacting, BNYL Leader, Princewill Obuka, said “That old man does not know how determined the Biafrans are. He saw what happened during military raid.” “Such resistance should have told them that Biafrans, if armed, would really consume Nigeria like Kanu was saying. “He should respect his old age and turn attention to Boko Haram and Shiites”. However, the group added that its ongoing ...
